Rainy Days and Mondays

If rainy days and Mondays always get me down, what happens when it's a rainy Monday?! Must be really down.
Luckily, though, I enjoy rainy days, as well as Mondays...
I had a great weekend - saw two terrific shows. The first one was What's Your Problem? with Hector Coris, Suzanne Adams, and Eric Martin. What a terrific show. The music is all original and so very witty and clever. It was a great way to spend my Saturday evening. All three cast members are extremely talented, and the fast paced show just flew by. I ended up sitting next to another colleague from the cabaret world, Shaynee Rainbolt who has just gotten back from her whirlwind 4-city tour to promote her new cd. Yay Shaynee!
Last night, I went to the Metropolitan Room to see the Roast, Toast & Tribute to Jim Caruso, the host of Cast Party. Jim has single-handedly created the biggest night out in show biz, and is a witty, clever, and very talented performer in his own right. He knows more people in show business than anyone else I know, and is the only person I can think of that could host an open mike night for the broadway/jazz/cabaret/folk communities and keep it entertaining week after week. The star-studded cast included Karen Mason, Sally Mayes, Linda Lavin, Stephanie J. Block, Natalie Douglas, Julie Reyburn, Billy Stritch, and the talented hostess/producer, Carolyn Montgomery. The house was beyond sold out, and the show was incredible. What a great tribute to a great performer and colleague.
Tonight, it's Cast Party as usual, and then tomorrow it's my last performance of I Hate Men: Songs for the Scorned. I'd be so very excited if the room was packed, and from the sounds of things, it very well might be. If you haven't called for a reservation yet, I'd highly recommend it. 212-255-5438
See you there!!!

I HATE MEN!

Hey Everyone...
So, my show is going great ~ if you've come to see it, thank you so much! If you haven't...well, get there next Tuesday if you can! I am thrilled with the way the show is going, and sad that next Tuesday is the last performance. I'm still on a high from last night - everything really clicked, the audience was fabulous - I didn't want to leave the stage! It felt like one of those magical nights when everything just goes right. I'm planning on riding the high right into next week's show, so I hope to see you there!
In other news...I'm heading to see Hector Coris in his show "What's Your Problem?" on Saturday night at Rose's Turn. I've heard really great things about him, and am looking forward to finally getting to see him!
Anyway, time to get back to the ol' day job...

Happy Monday

Well, it's Monday again. Oh, joy! Actually, there's a lot of good stuff going on this week, so I'm happy to be starting it! I will, of course, be headed over to Birdland for Cast Party tonight. I usually stay until the bitter end, but if I can get on early tonight, I'd really like to get a good night's sleep, as tomorrow I have my second performance of I Hate Men: Songs for the Scorned. We had a blast at last week's show - and are looking forward to having even more fun tomorrow night!
Wednesday, I'll be heading up to Middletown - after over 30 years as a choral teacher, my dad is retiring, and Wednesday is his final school concert. All of his former students (which includes me and my sis) are invited to join onstage for the finale - I can't miss it!
Thursday will find me at Helen's to see Richard Skipper as Carol Channing - I've heard great things about the show and I can't wait to see it for myself.
That's about it from me for now...hope to see you at my show tomorrow!

This and That

Good morning!
So...opening night of the show went very well - I am a happy girl! Can't wait to do it all again next week! I still have some men telling me they're scared to come - now that's just silly! How am I supposed to stop hating men if none of them show up to support me? Let me tell you right now - any man who makes the effort to come see the show will instantly win some major brownie points! Moving on, though...I'm headed to Helen's tonight to see Cynthia Crane's show. I've never seen her perform, but I hear wonderful things about her, so I'm excited. Tomorrow, I'll be heading up to Middletown to prepare for the annual Esposito Family Concert. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's when my dad, my sis, and I put on a concert in my hometown, Middletown. We've been doing it every summer for over 10 years and we always have a terrific time. We do a little bit of everything - classical, Broadway, jazz, pop...so if you're in the Middletown area or feel like taking a trip to the Middletown area (it's about an hour and a half north of the city), it would be great to see you there. More details are on my website, in the "gig" section.
Hope to see you soon!

It's The Day of the Show, Y'all!

Well, tonight's the big night - the opening of my new show, I Hate Men: Songs for the Scorned. I'm really excited. We've been working so hard on it, and I feel very confident in saying I think it's a great show. Despite the slightly negative connotations of the title, it is a very fun show - I'm fairly upbeat about being scorned so much! I've had a number of people ask me if men are welcome - of course they are! Some may even qualify for a special exemption from my hatred. And who knows, if enough men come, the possibility of one of them being able to change my mind will be much better...
I would love, love, LOVE a good crowd (it's so much more fun than singing to yourself), so if you can make it, please do! Or send a friend. Or better yet, both you and your friend come!
Hope to see you there!
